Part of the Grade II* listed farmhouse was built in the 16th century out of the remains of the Abbey’s refectory and then rebuilt as a gentry house in 1670-80. The ground floor contains a paneled parlour containing features of its gentry past, including a late 17th century panel painting and painted ceilings. There is also a 17th century staircase, and a large kitchen, which preserves fittings from its use as a Welsh tenant farmhouse in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The farmhouse has a fascinating social history and architectural story to tell but now it is in poor condition and in need of urgent restoration. During 2026 Strata Florida Trust has carried out interim repair works funded by the Lottery Heritage Fund. The project included supporting the entire interior, rebuilding one of the rear walls and conserving the iconic parlour painting. In addition, volunteers have been cataloguing and have safely stored the remaining contents of the farmhouse.

The Trust is developing plans to conserve the farmhouse over the next few years, as part of the aim to repair and reuse the farm buildings to create the Strata Florida Centre.
